Our purpose is to provide the highest-quality Early Childhood Dance Education in a secure, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Bom Funk Dance Studio serves the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of the young students. We meet these goals with our age-appropriate curriculum and ongoing communication with parents.
Right from the beginning we focus on your child’s coordination, listening skills, musical awareness, and developing imagination. We accomplish this through age-appropriate music and song, simple stretching exercises, ballet and tumbling basics, and creative games.
Dance Kingdom is about helping children learn to stimulate their imaginations and express themselves creatively. So Don’t be disappointed if your child doesn’t pirouette around the house or look like a budding ballerina right away. Just like pop corn, each child will pop in their own time! We can’t wait to be there with them when they do!
Dance Kingdom classes:
Baby Bees®
Ages18 months - 4 years
~ DANCE, MUSIC & MOVEMENT BASICS
This class introduces children to the wonderful world of dance through basics jazz, ballet & hip hop movements to give young children a taste for a number of different styles. Students copy steps and develop their imagination while gaining confidence to perform in front of others.
Baby Bees is an interactive class between parent and child - parents participate in class and share their child's dance journey.
Attire: There are no uniform requirements for this class. Dance Kingdom uniform (optional). Tutus and non restrictive/soft costumes are welcome.
Bare feet, socks or ballet shoes recommended– please no jiffies as these are slippery.
Baby Bees must be turning 2 in the calendar year, no younger than 18months.
Performances: Midyear Display Week to show off our skills to other family. Baby Bees do not perform in our End-of-year Showcase - this class is an introduction to dance to build confidence.
Beetle Bop™
Preschool & Kindy age students
~ JAZZ/FUNK BLEND
This class introduces young children to the energetic elements of Dance as well as imaginative play. It is a great introduction to dance movement, music and rhythm. Students also develop their imagination and creative skills while gaining confidence to perform in front of others.
Suitable for the newly independent learner, beginner dancers, boys & girls. No parent participation or attendance in classroom.
Attire: There are no uniform requirements for this class. Dance Kingdom uniform (optional). Tutus and non restrictive/soft costumes are welcome.

Tumble Tigers®
Preschool & Kindy age students
~ ACRO
Tumble Tigers is an introduction to tumbling & Acrobatics recommended for students in Preschool and Kindy. Students will learn their Acro ABCs and have fun learning to jump, roll and balance in gymnastics-based physical play. Obstacle courses and guided activities are used to gain greater body control, gross motor skills and creative movement and are all led by our qualified acrobatics/gymnastics teachers.
Suitable for the newly independent learner, beginner dancers, boys & girls. No parent participation or attendance in classroom.
Attire: Leotards or clothing that will allow easy movement are recommended. Dance Kingdom uniform (optional).
Bare feet - no shoes required.
Performances: Midyear & End-of-Year Display Week to show off our skills to family. No perform in the End-of-year Dance Kingdom Showcase; this is a skills based class only.
Hiphop-o-potamus®
Preschool & Kindy age students
~ HIP HOP
This class is a blend of Hip Hop, Stomp and Break dancing techniques. It is a great introduction to dance and choreography. The boys & girls keep active with many activities, including obstacles courses to practice balance and jumps.
Suitable for the newly independent learner, beginner dancers, boys & girls. No parent participation or attendance in classroom.
Attire: There are no uniform requirements for this class. Dance Kingdom shirts (optional). Tshirt/singlet & leggings/shorts recommended.
Street shoes, sneakers or High tops for class use only - please don't wear them outside.
All-Black canvas shoes (black soles & black laces) are required for all major performances. These shoes can be purchased from retail stores such as Kmart or Big W.
Performances: Midyear Display Week to show off our dance skills to family + Hiphop-o-potamus tots can perform in the End-of-year Dance Kingdom Showcase - a great introduction to the stage in their own small scale performance. Costumes are provided at no additional cost and make up is optional.
Ballet Bunnies®
Preschool & Kindy age students
~ BALLET
Many children dream of becoming ballerinas or ballerinos & this class is designed to encourage that passion for movement while learning the foundations to Ballet. The graceful movements and poses include pointed feet, rising, jumping, stretching and spinning.
Suitable for the newly independent learner, beginner dancers, boys & girls. No parent participation or attendance in classroom.
Attire: Girls- a tutu dress up or a leotard & a skirt. Boys - Singlet and shorts/bike pants. Dance Kingdom outfits (optional).
Pink ballet shoes with elastics for girls, black for boys – please no jiffies as these are slippery.
Performances: Midyear Display Week to show off our dance skills to family + Ballet Bunnies can perform in the End-of-year Dance Kingdom Showcase - a great introduction to the stage in their own small scale performance. Costumes are provided at no additional cost and make up is optional.
Rhythm Rhinos®
Preschool & Kindy age students
~ TAP
Rhythm Rhinos is an introduction to tap dance recommended for students attending Kindy. Students will learn basic tap steps and rhythms, They will learn the difference between light and shade (quiet & loud) and create music with their feet! The classroom may be a little noisy!
Suitable for the newly independent learner, beginner dancers, boys & girls. No parent participation or attendance in classroom.
Attire: Leotards or clothing that will allow easy movement are recommended. Dance Kingdom uniform (optional).
Tap Shoes. Black Tap shoes required for performances.
Performances: Midyear Display Week to show off our dance skills to family + Rhythm Rhinos can perform in the End-of-year Dance Kingdom Showcase - a great introduction to the stage in their own small scale performance. Costumes are provided at no additional cost and make up is optional.
Pom Pandas™
Preschool & Kindy age students
~ CHEER
Pom Pandas focus on cheerleading basics including lines, formations, cheerleading jumps, sharp staccato arm movements and form. It may contain tumbling (however tumbling training is mainly conducted in Tumble Tigers/acrobatics class) and influences of hip-hop and jazz techniques, commonly used by professional cheerleaders.
Suitable for the newly independent learner, beginner dancers, boys & girls. No parent participation or attendance in classroom.
Attire: Leotards with a shirt or clothing that will allow easy movement are recommended. Bom Funk cheer uniform (optional). White tennis sneakers (inside shoes only). Practice Poms (available from our Bom Funk Boutique). Hair in high ponytail.
